The most common type of massage therapy, Swedish massage helps to relax the entire body while increasing blood oxygen levels and improving circulation.
This technique is ideal if you have never had a massage before, as it can be done gently.
During a hot stone massage, the techniques of a regular massage are applied. However, the therapist also works with hot stones that are placed on specific parts of the body.
One of the benefits of cold stone massage is that it can provide a deep state of relaxation, a release of tension, as well as, a reduction of swelling and inflammation due to scar tissue, trauma or injuries to muscles.
Cold stones are excellent because they promote circulation and act as a powerful decongestant for the body. By promoting circulation, a cold stone treatment can ease inflamed tissues, decrease muscle spasms, and can reduce swelling or fluid build-up (for example, as manifested in dark circles under the eyes). The use of hot stones allows a therapist to give a deep, penetrating massage without putting excessive stress on his or her own body. Additionally, the stones will heat the skin, open the pores, and prepare one’s skin to better absorb massage oils.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue is a form of massage that focuses on releasing the deeper myofacial restrictions of the deeper muscles, tendons and ligaments of the body. This type of massage requires the therapist to apply a considerable amount of pressure which in some cases can cause some discomfort to the client. However, the therapist will always work with in the comfort zone of the client.
Deep tissue massage can be of specific help to: Athletes and sports enthusiasts, people with chronic joint or muscle injuries, people that perform repetitive tasks that cause stress or strain on their muscles or people who suffer with stress.
You can either lay on the bed or sit in a chair for your treatment. If you wish for oils this is optional you may wish to take your top off and cover up in a towel or blanket. You will then just relax and enjoy your treatment. The aim of Indian head massage is to release tension in the muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. Indian head massage can also help with relieving fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and sinusitis. The experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving a feeling of increased energy, concentration and revitalisation.
NLFM incorporates a unique blend of highly effective techniques drawn from both Japanese Face Massage and Indian Face Massage; also known as Facial Rejuvenation or Natural Facelift. This facial massage involves a sequence of massage techniques which act as a natural facelift with no need for surgery, helping to look and feel younger. This specifically designed treatment uses a combination of techniques to improve the complexion, remove toxins from the face, prevent and reduce facial wrinkles and age spots.

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate. Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery.
The method of a very gentle, 'light touch' form of massage using light, rhytmical, very precise hands movement, pressure and sequences which encourage the lymph fluid to flow freely around the body.LMD can benefit people who are experiencing: lymphedema, fibromyalgia, swelling or edema, fatigue, insomnia, stress skin disorders, digestive problems, arthritis, migraine episodes.
Pregnancy massage - also known as pre-natal massage - promotes relaxation and bonding, soothes nerves, and relieves a strained back and tired muscles in expectant mothers.
Massage has been shown to ease pain and reduce anxiety in the first stage of labour. It can help you to cope with contractions by making them feel less intense and more manageable which, in turn, can reduce labour time and pain relief required.
Pre-natal massage has many other benefits please contact me for further information.
Cupping Therapy Massage (Silicone Cup)
Using silicone cups placed strategically on the body the practitioner uses a pump to create a vacuum inside each cup causing the skin to rise into the cup, expanding the blood vessels.
Locally, the most obvious benefits of cupping are a relief of pain and a relaxation and increased suppleness of stiff tendons and muscles. Cupping increases the cleansing blood flow of lymph, while removing congested blood from the muscles. If cupping is applied to the joints, the blood flow to the joint is increased and there is an increased secretion of synovial fluid into the joint cavity.
Cupping also has a dramatic detoxifying effect on the skin and circulatory system and enhances the cleansing and removal of toxins. However, this detoxification may not me observable after just one treatment and three to five are recommended.
One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing.
Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.
Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
I will provide you with 5 clinically proven health benefits of massage treatments.
STRENGTHENED IMMUNE SYSTEM
Many studies have linked massages to improved functioning of the immune system. In one 2010 study, massage was shown to improve production of white blood cells which fight against disease. The same study was repeated with a focus on how massage effects hormone levels and it showed that people who had Swedish massage twice a week had decreased levels of the stress hormone cortisol and more oxytocin, the trust hormone.
IMPROVED WELL-BEING
A relaxing massage can reduce anxiety, stress and depression. As I mentioned previously, massage has been proven to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This improves your overall feeling of well-being and can reduce blood pressure. Massage can also increase levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine, which is great for people suffering from depression.
REDUCED INFLAMMATION
A study published in Science Translational Medicine in 2012 found that massage greatly relieves sore muscles after physical exercise. Just 10 minutes of massage can reduce inflammation and help your body recover more quickly.
REDUCED PAIN
A 2011 study of lower back pain published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that Swedish massage or deep tissue massage can help alleviate chronic lower back pain. After receiving 1 massage a week for 10 weeks, 1 out of 3 patients were relieved of pain compared to 1 in 25 given ‘usual care’. A 2006 study published in the American Archives of Internal Medicine showed that frequent massages could decrease stiffness and pain and improve movement in people with osteoarthrit
IMPROVED SLEEP
Even insomniacs may find it easier to get a good night’s rest after a massage treatment. Some people even fall asleep while they are being massaged! Many studies have addressed this phenomenon and accredit it to massage’s affect on delta waves, which are the brain waves associated with deep sleep.
